Viliv has launched a 10 inch touch-screen tablet with an HD display, a large QWERTY keyboard and an Atom processor. The device called S10 Blade has the following specifications.
Processor: 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z530 or 2GHz Atom Z550 processor
Display: 10.1 inch display with 1366 x 768 pixels
Memory: 1GB
Storage: 32GB/64GB/128GB SSD
Operating system: Windows 7 Home Premium
The display supports multi-touch gestures. It can be swiveled and folded down over the keyboard. There are 3 USB ports, one SDHC card slot, headphone, mic, D-sub and video out. Other features include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth. 3G and WiMAX are also offered as optional features. The keyboard is nearly full-sized with 84 keys. Viliv claims that the battery will offer 10 hours of uptime during normal use.
The S10 Blade measures just 1 inch in thickness and weighs around 2.7 pounds.
The features look impressive but the Atom Z530/Z550 processors are known to be sluggish. On the plus side, the Z5xx series of processors come with GMA 500 graphics which support hardware acceleration for HD video playback. And that was probably why Viliv opted for this processor instead of the relatively faster and equally power efficient Atom N450 processor.
